Which subject is the hardest to research?
For doctoral (PhD) students, the hardest subject to research is one that would not lead to a “done” dissertation. This can occur for a number of reasons, including:
The subject is not well represented or researched in the scholarly literature
The subject is too narrow, thus overly restricting potential participants for data collection
The researcher is not experienced or knowledgable of the subject - making research difficult due to a lack of familiarity and understanding
The subject is inherently sensitive, leading to participant bias or non-response
The above represents a partial list, but potentially applies to almost any field or subject matter.
